The Tea Tree is a small tree bearing leaves that resemble needle and is also referred to as ” Ti-tree”. It can grow up to 20 feet tall and flourishes in marshland areas. A native of Australia, the Tea Tree is very robust shrub which becomes ready for cutting with in only two years after its' previous harvest. In Botanical world it is referred to as Melaleuca alternifolia. The Tea Tree leaves are steam-distilled to extract a thin and runny fluid which is either of colorless or pale Yellow and clear. The organically harvested and extracted Tea Tree essential oil emits a fresh, anti-septic and medicinal aroma, besides its characteristic mint and spicy, camphor-like odor. With essential oils becoming more believed by the people all over the world, the use of Tea Tree has raised significantly. Historically, the Australian tribes or Aborigines have long used Tea tree oil for the cure of several diseases and body disorders. The essential oil of Tea tree has a long history of use in aromatherapy as well. During the Second World War, the people involved in harvesting and cutting of Tea Tree and further production of Tea Tree oil were exempt from military service until enough accumulated reserves of Tea Tree essential oil were produced. The Tea Tree essential oil was a highly valued product and was issued to each soldier and sailor as part of their first aid kit.
